The trunk of forgotten journeys
This antique Chinese travel trunk carries on its red lacquer the traces of time and the memories of the roads it has crossed. Its gilded decoration, depicting pavilions, gardens and dream landscapes, seems to tell a faded story of which only a few fragments remain.
Its finely worked brass fitting contrasts with the depth of its patina and underlines the precious character of the piece. Every mark of wear, every chip, bears witness to a rich and eventful life, giving the whole an authenticity impossible to reproduce.
Today it finds its place naturally as a coffee table, at the foot of a bed or in an elegant entrance. Its generous volume also lets it be reinvented as a bar cabinet: its interior can hold bottles, glasses and accessories, turning every opening into a moment of conviviality and surprise.
At once storage furniture, decorative object and statement piece, it brings warmth, character and singularity to a contemporary interior as much as to a townhouse, an executive office or a reception space.
Some trunks carried precious goods. This one still carries stories.
