Pair of antique Tibetan brass candlesticks in repoussé
A spectacular pair of Tibetan brass candlesticks, with an architectural, richly worked silhouette.
The decoration combines stylised lotus petals, geometric friezes and finely engraved motifs, characteristic of the Himalayan Buddhist decorative vocabulary.
Their construction in several registers gives each piece a remarkable sculptural presence.
Subtle differences in decoration between the two candlesticks speak of hand craftsmanship.
The metal shows an antique patina, alternating golden reflections, darkened areas and natural traces of time.
Originally meant to hold candles or light offerings, they took part in the spiritual atmosphere of altars.
Today, this pair becomes a true decorative object, as striking on a console as on a large table.
A rare, decorative pair charged with spirituality — best kept together.
